Ethiopia Guji Sakicha Guduva Washed
GUDUVA Washing Station named after an indigenous tree in Ethiopia that can grow up to 15 meters high.
The station is located at Sakicha Kebele, which is geographically classified as Guji, but it is sitting on the mountain slope that very close to Gedeb.
There is only about 20 years of coffee growing history in Sakicha,
therefore the coffee varieties are relatively new, they are mostly planting the improved variety from JARC(Jimma Agricultural Research Centre),
such as 74110 and 74112, tend to have a more consistent cup profile and production.
You will also find a Penagos eco-pulper at GUDUVA, which is not so common to see in Ethiopia as most of the stations are using a traditional disc pulper. The Penagos allows you to control the mucilage level while pulping, that is something very important for fermentation and the cup profile as the mucilage did a huge impact to the sugar content to the coffee. And why called it an Eco-pulper as it consumed so much less water during pulping, it helps to protect the environment more sustainable.
