Indonesia Kerinci Anaerobic Natural

$158.00
Origin:  Indonesia
Region: Kerinci, Sumatra

Nestled at the foot of Mount Kerinci, an active volcano on the lush island of Sumatra, lies the terroir that gives birth to this exceptional coffee. The region is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, and centuries of volcanic eruptions have blessed the land with incredibly fertile volcanic soil, creating a rich and verdant landscape ideal for coffee cultivation. This coffee is grown by the 320 members of the Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative, who cultivate their beans on a high-altitude plateau between 1,400 and 1,700 meters. The primary varietals, Andung Sari and Sigarar Utang, are local Indonesian cultivars known for their resilience and unique flavour potential.

Roasting an anaerobic natural coffee requires a delicate touch. We aims to caramelize the abundant sugars to create a rich, syrupy body and notes of dark chocolate, while preserving the vibrant character of ripe cherry, tropical fruits, and warm spices. The result is a bold, aromatic, and complex cup that captures the innovative spirit of modern Sumatran coffee.
